Arizona's Red Rock Country

On Monday, Jan. 19th, we drove north past Phoenix to Sedona, AZ where we plan to stay two nights. On our first day, we drove out Hwy #179 to the "Chapel of the Cross" which was completed in 1965. On the same drive we hiked up on a trail to get a good look at Bell Rock and some of the surrounding scenery. Obviously, it was a gorgeous day for hiking and picture-taking. - rw
On our next day in Sedona, we hiked up Wilson Canyon after a drive up Oak Creek Canyon. The canyon we hiked on was named after a bear hunter, Richard Wilson, who, interestingly enough, was killed in 1885 by a large grizzly bear! We enjoyed the hike, and then drove to Red Rock State Park where we took another hike and watched a 45-minute video on the red rock country in and around Sedona. - rw

Beautiful pictures -- jealous of the weather.
