Getting Old in KL!

The end of February (the 27th to be exact) marked a "Kuala Lumpur Milestone" when I exceeded threescore-and-ten by seven years and reached my double-seven birthday. Some weeks ahead Nancy had reserved a Saturday night room (25th) at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel, and also had booked the two of us for High Tea at 3:00 p.m. that afternoon (the horizontal pix below shows the scones and desserts on the tray).

On Saturday night we also had tickets to the concert at the Malaysian Philharmonic in KLCC -- a very short walk from the hotel. The program featured a baritone soloist and several well-known arias from opera, along with several operatic overtures.

Then, since Doug had been in Mumbai, India for a school trip over my b-day week-end, Nancy had invited Doug and Tracy and the kids over for a birthday dinner on the 28th where we were all able to enjoy my chocolate birthday cake, along with ice cream!

The birthday dinner was also the occasion for Nancy to present to Reeve his quilt that she had been working on for some months. The queen-size quilt was actually designed for his bed in Ohio.

Notice those adorable grandkids! - rw
