January in Tucson . . .

On the day after Christmas Nancy and I drove south on I-5 to Berkeley, CA and spent two nights with a good friend from Berkeley days, Nikki Gage (right in pix; Sally Williams is also pictured) From Berkeley we drove south once again on I-5 all the way into San Diego County to stay another two nights with my cousin, Helen Meyer, near Julian. (Helen and her daughter Ruby are pictured with Nancy.)
In Julian we had a chance to "scope-out" the town that is often populated with tourists, and see Ray Meyer's work with apple orchards. From Julian we drove to Tucson, staying two nights in Comanche Wells mobile home park before checking-into our rented condo out on the extreme east side of Tucson. One day after arriving we picked up friends Gary & Susan Fawver who will share the condo with us for two weeks.
On one of the first days in Tucson we drove 20 minutes to Saguaro National Park (East) for a 2-mile hike and a picnic. Pictured below is the golf course just behind our condo.
On Monday, January 6th the four of us drove south to Sierra Vista where me met-up with Dayton and Sandy Durley who took us to a prime viewing site for Sandhill Cranes ... and also for a stop at Boot Hill in Tombstone. (pictures below) - rw

Stunning pictures. It helps having a talented photographer and birder along?
