Another Beach Resort?!!!

Sure thing! It was Tasha's request for quality time in Malaysia. So, just two days after getting home from Coral Redang where Tasha, Doug and Tracy got their scuba diving certificates we were back at another beach resort -- this time on the west side of Peninsular Malaysia, Pangkor Island Beach Resort. It was a 3 1/2 hour drive from KL for the 8 of us in our two vehicles and it involved a 30 minute ferry ride from the town of Lumut. But, we had nice accommodations and great food at the buffet meals for breakfast and dinner. Activities included lots of time in the pool, 9 holes of golf for Ron & Nancy (with Doug and Reeve playing the last 3 holes), kayaking for Doug and Reeve and a disappointing no-go for Tasha when she showed-up for paragliding on the last morning only to be told that the tide was too high and she'd need to wait until afternoon (when we'd already be gone!).
The golf course was a bit primitive, with greens more like a level and well-mowed fairway, and in reality there were only three holes transformed into 9 by the use of three different tee-boxes a few yards apart. One of the interesting things about the Pangkor Island Beach Resort was the presence of many Malaysian hornbills that gathered twice a day near the pool for regular feedings. Another aspect of the trip was the waiting at both ends of our trip for the ferry. Kids were good, however, and managed to keep entertained -- with a major assist from Grandma on the way home who suddenly appeared with ice cream cones! (Speaking of Grandma, her 60th birthday was "celebrated" by driving to Pangkor Island and then having one of their delicious buffet meals the first night we were there. However, the picture below was taken the night before our trip when Tracy surprised her at their place with a cake and presents!) - rw
