Sarawak Longhouse Visit

Our hotel in Kuching has a great view of the river. But we ventured from the city to go on a tour of a long house in Sarawak.

We went to one that is “non-tourist”. We learned that pepper is one of the cash crops in this area. Note the cable TV dish on the roof. One of the leaders was sharpening his hoe in front of his home. The long house is actually a little village on stilts. Each family has one private room and the rest of the areas are public. --Nancy
