Off to Tuscany

Mark's Map of the area

We had an 8:30 am train from Rome to Florence. Mark and Marta wanted to spend some time in Tuscany so we settled on the village of Greve in Chianti. We arrived in Florence and had a short walk to a local bus station where we took an hour bus ride to Greve. Our Airbnb was only a 5 minute walk from the bus stop. the forecast was for rain our three days in Tuscany but the weather was pleasant so after getting settled into our accommodations we visited the tourist office and the grocery store. Mark bought a map of the local area so we could hike. We fixed a lunch and then took the bus to the the next village of Panzano. We started off on our hike. We come to a lovely winery and it said that it was open so we walked down to it and had a private wine tasting. Then we took off on an overgrown trail but is did eventually lead us to a back road that took us into the very hill village of Montefioralle. It was a delight with it's narrow cobblestone streets. We enjoyed great views. My pedometer on my iPhone recorded 8.8 miles of walking for the day. - Nancy
