My Trip to Africa - Feb. 3rd

We arrived at the Peace Garden Guest House about 9 pm after two long flights. The first flight Portland to Amsterdam was not full so I stretched out across three seats and had two nice long naps. We had a very short connection in Amsterdam and the flight to Kigali was quite full. The travel went well with on-time flights and all luggage arriving in good shape. David and Debbie Thomas met us at the airport and took us to our accommodations. The rooms are basic but have all we need.
Sleeping under a mosquito net brought back memories of safari trips in Kenya. I wandered around the compound after getting up. The kiosk across the street made me think I should stop and get milk for the day like we did in Nairobi.
There are 6 of us in the group. Here are three of the members in the group
-- Paul Almquist, Gene Mulkey and Doree Votaw. Lon and Raelene Fendall did a great job of organizing our group. For the rest of this week we are in the Kigali area. Next week is the week of library work. I'd like to get started now but it will be nice to be over jet lag by the time we arrive at Rwanda Friends Theological College in Musanze which is 105 km from Kigali. - Nancy

Well, we're happy to hear you arrived safely. Nice pictures. I remember Kigali as being a very lovely place with lots of hills. Enjoy your week there!
