Segesta

Greek Theater
Segesta was originally founded by the Elymian people, one of the native people of Sicily. They later integrated with the Greeks, making Segesta an important classical town. It was later ruled by the Romans, but declined in importance before being finally abandoned in around the thirteenth century. We visited the 3rd century BC Greek theater.  Then we walked to the  Doric temple. It is thought to have been built in the 420's BC by an Athenian architect. One nice thing about the day was that there was a breeze and come cloud cover so it was not as hot as it could have been. - Nancy
