Visit to Carthagenian Island of Mothya

Some of the ruins
This morning we took a bus to a boat dock to get on a boat for a short ride to the island of Mothya. The foundation of the city probably dates from the eighth century BC. It was originally a colony of the Phoenicians. A local archeologist gave us an extensive history of the island. I quickly realized that I could never be an archeologist. Digging in dirt to find shards of pots is not of interest to me.

A death mask
There was a small museum on the island. The most impressive piece was a marble statue from 5th century BC. - Nancy
