A Day in Slovenia

View half way up
I discovered after I had booked this trip with the tour company Trafalgar that to see and experience much one has to sign up and pay for the the "optional add-ons." It seems that as opposed to the Rick Steves tour that I just finished that to see much on this tour it it a good idea to do the optional events. So I decided to sign up for all of them and just enjoy the trip. This morning the option was to travel to the Vogel Ski Resort lies within the Triglav National Park above Lake Bohinj.and take a cable car to the top and see the Alps. I think I have bad weather luck when it comes to the Alps. We could see about half way up the mountain and then the top was in the clouds. Even so we had some good views. We stopped at Lake Bohinj which is a beautiful lake. Our large tour bus then drove us through some small villages. I think there might have been about an inch on each side in one place between buildings in a village.
View at the top of the cable car.

The afternoon option was a trip to Postojna Cave for an 90 minute tour. The cave is so large you take a small train (think amusement park ride) for 1.5K (a little less than a mile), then walk for 1.5K, and then back on the train for 2K (1.25 miles). The cave is is over 15 miles long so the tour covers only a small portion of the cave. It was very impressive. - Nancy

The narrow roads and tight fits bring back memories of Italy. . .it must have made you feel right at home. The cave looks like it was quite an amazing experience. Hopefully, the weather will improve for great mountain views.
